The Musée du Désert


In the very charming and typical hamlet of the Mas Soubeyran near Mialet and 15 minutes from Les Hauts de Falguieres, the Musée intends to bear testimony to the protestant faithfulness.

Inside the Camisard Chief Rolland's birth place, after an audiovisual presentation of the Reformation, you will be guided through 15 rooms and an important number of paintings, objects and original documents, The Musée du Désert revives the Huguenot past, especially the so called "Desert" period (1685-1787), from the repeal of the Edict of Nantes to the Edict of Tolérance, the Camisards war, the persecutions and the resistance, the everyday life in clandestinity, the long way to liberty of conscience till the French Revolution.

Opened everyday from March 1st to November 30th 9:30am to 12:00 and from 2 pm to 6 pm

From July 1st to the first Sunday of September, opens 9:30am to 7 pm
