The house originally belonged to the family of a famous French protestant leader, Abraham Mazel , who fought for religious freedom in France. For the Huguenots the surrounding wilderness was a hiding place from king Louis XIV's soldiers. The house is bordered by a vast garden and sits on top of the hill of Falguières, (thus its name, Les Hauts de Falguières) overlooking the wild valley of the Gardon on one side and a pine and chestnut forests on the other side. You are sure to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this retreat after exploring the many sights of the region. Relax under the shadow of the beautiful old lime tree, or in the softly lit and heated pool. If you prefer, you can choose to escape to the nearby river of the Gardon for a wilder bath. What will the weather be like? Check it out! Read the book "Travel with a Donkey in the Cevennes" (of course, you will find this book, both in French and English in the library at Les Hauts de Falguières!). Purchase the book "Travel with a Donkey in the Cevennes". Check out this web site all in English about the Languedoc. You'll find tons of useful information!
